Can I ask why what you read at a PUBLIC library should be a private matter?
The right to privacy?
A valid question from a non-dorky-librarian-type that deserves a sufficient answer. Allow me to collect some links in a rational order; I shall repost.
It's been an amazingly busy semester's start so I'm just going to refer you to the Library Bill of Rights for now. Check out #4, "Libraries should cooperate with all persons and groups concerned with resisting abridgment of free expression and free access to ideas." Censorship issues also arise in many public library settings (#3).
